Why Does My Vape Crackle And Spit?

Vape Crackle

Have you heard the crackling sound of your vape? The fact that your e-cigarette makes noises can surprise you when you are new to vaping. Crackles, pop, and whoosh sounds are all possible. They’re all normal, and you become accustomed to them very quickly.

Knowing what your vape’s ‘normal’ sounds are can help you pinpoint where there is a problem if it changes. In this article, we’ll look at the noises you might hear from your vape, why they happen, and how you can recognize a good or bad sound.

What Causes Vapes to Crackle And Pop?

This popping and crackling you hear from your e-cigarette are entirely usual. Vape coils are responsible for it.

As you vape, keep in mind that you are dealing with an electrical device doing several things at once. During the draw of your e-cigarette, an atomizer head is filled with e-liquid. When you press your button, the coil inside the atomizer head heats up. You inhale a vapour created by vaporizing your e-liquid with this coil. The e-liquid makes a slight popping and crackling during the vaporization process. When your atomizer head is brand new, you’ll notice this more clearly. If your vape crackles, it implies that it is performing well and the coil is functioning correctly.

E-Liquid Type

As you vape your e-cig, the type of vape juice you use can change the sound it makes.

E-liquid thickness is determined by how much diluent is in it. PG (propylene glycol) is a diluent with a thinner consistency, so your e-liquid will be thinner if you use more of it. When your e-liquid is composed of more Vegetable Glycerine (VG), then it will be thicker.

Since the e-liquid is thinner, the atomizer head noise might be more noticeable since it doesn’t have the thickness to dampen the sound.

You still make the same sounds and do the same thing with your atomizer head regardless of the thickness of your e-liquid; it’s just buffered from the liquid.

Output Power of E-cigarettes

You can expect your starter kit to be louder the more power it has. The pop and crackle of a sub-ohm vape results from powering it up. The coil will heat up much faster, almost instantly, than a coil of higher resistance.

However, with a sub-ohm vape, the noise will not last as long. Consequently, you tend to draw for a shorter period since much more vapour is produced.

Crackling isn’t the only thing you might hear. If you hear a gurgling or spitting sound, your power might be too low. If your adjustable power vape has low wattage, you may accumulate excess fluid in your atomizer head. Vaping it too slowly causes your coil to flood, causing a gurgling sound or spitting. Increasing your power may help.
